Do I Dream Big?

Are you someone who has a bucket list of things they hope to do? Do you have big dreams of something you would like to accomplish in the future? Studies show that dreaming big can help us fulfill more desires in our life. Do we accomplish all of our big dreams? Sometimes not. Do we experience more in our lives when we do dream big? Statistically we do. What is your big dream? Are you currently setting any goals or taking any action toward it? Let’s talk about it.

Why Dream Big?

Dreaming big begins with ambition, goals and motivation. If you feel you are in a place with little ambition or motivation, then you are in the right place. We are talking about that today. There are many life factors that can keep us in a place lacking motivation if we aren’t intentional with our desires. Remaining in this place can affect more than just your future experiences. It can affect us physically, mentally and emotionally. Our relationships, over time, can also suffer. Below are some possible symptoms in the lives of people who have low motivation and dreams. Do these sound like you?

  • Primarily unhappy
  • Often disappointed in yourself
  • Feelings of sickness, even if you’re not physically sick
  • Doubtful feelings of succeeding
  • Mental exhaustion
  • Negative thought patterns

Can you relate to these? If so, that is ok. It is more normal than you think. If life and its circumstances, as well as your choices in how to handle that has you in a rut, maybe today is the day you will choice to set a goal and try something different. What is one thing you enjoy that you will do today (or tomorrow)?

Dream Bigger.

Dreaming bigger isn’t just achieving more. Dreaming bigger is a shift in your mindset that will allow you to accomplish more of your goals and look more forward toward a dream. It allows your mind the pleasure of possibilities and the ability to handle the small disappointments along the way. Will you face disappointments, yes, you will. But if you change nothing and remain dreamless, will you experience any portion of your dream? No, chances are you will not. Today, I hope to encourage you toward setting a dream. I also hope the small steps you will experience in doing so will increase your desire even more to dream. What happens when we dare to dream big? Read below for just a few changes in your life and outlook that can come from your dreaming.

  • Achieve more of your goals
  • Can help you find passions and meaning in life
  • Improved self-worth and accomplishment
  • Able to handle setbacks and disappointments easier
  • Happier disposition
  • Increased creativity in your mindset
  • Improved confidence

The bigger we dream, the more likely that some of our dreams will not come to fruition. But some of our dreams will. That is the importance of dreaming. Will we have to face to the disappointment that some dreams won’t happen? Yes, we will. But will we get to celebrate big and gain from the dreams that do? Yes, we will. It is worth the effort and trade off. What are you dreaming big about?

How Do I Dream Big?

We talked earlier that the first step in dreaming big is setting a goal. Schedule some time and a space to allow your mind the freedom of letting go of what is on the plate today and thinking about something you would like in the future. You could even leave the time feeling better. Do you want to try dreaming about something? Don’t know where to start? Below are steps that could help you. Remember, if you aren’t used to dreaming, it could take some time. Allow yourself the time and space to get used to dreaming.

  • Believe in yourself
  • Do not allow negative self-talk
  • Set a goal or experience you would like to do
  • Share your dream with someone you trust
  • Write down your dream and the ideas that come
  • Dream big but start with one small step

Big dreams come to fruition with many tiny steps toward achieving them. Remember to give yourself some space and time to grow. You did not come to this place overnight, and you will not leave this place overnight. We talk about setting goals, tracking goals and celebrating goals here. What is your first big dream?
